Jewelry making….making your own beads

Published by martie at 10:36 am under Uncategorized Edit This

100_0450.jpgI am starting this weeks blog with some beads I hand made myself.

I am not a jewelry maker and while I admire the handiwork of others that is one skill I have never even remotely mastered. However, when a friend of mine, who does make some beautiful handcrafted jewelry saw some of the things I had made with polymer clay, ask me to make her some beads, I just had to accept the challange.

The picture are just a few samples of the beads I made for her.

The beads pictures were completely hand crafted. However if you are interested in making beads from polymer clay there are several bead rolls for the medium on the market. For those of you who love beaded necklaces, polymer clay is easy to use and comes in a whole range of colors. You can find all sorts of interesting colors simply by browsing the Net.

If beads are not your thing, they also have jewelry making molds in a whole host of cute designs from crosses to zoo animals. There are some georgeous filligree type butterfly molds I have seen.

Of course buying the beads is faster, but for those of you who truly enjoy making your jewelry completely from scratch this is a great idea to try!
