Memorial Day Wreaths

Published by martie at 8:59 am under Uncategorized Edit This

With memorial day fast approaching, and having just written yesterday about how simple it was to make a wreath, I thought I would talk today about making a wreath to celebrate the upcoming holiday.

Since Memorial day was founded to remember those who died in service to our country this is a great time to make a memory wreath. Here are a few ideas on how to do it.

Just take a simple grapevine, or live wreath, add a few flowers, and then do one or more of the following:

Place pictures of relatives or friends, past and present who have served in the military on the wreath. If you only have one relative who has served in any of the armed forces, then you could place their picture in the middle of the wreath and use the decorated wreath as a frame.

No relatives in the Military? Don’t be discouraged, you can still make a memory wreath. Why not write to a soldier, there are plenty of sites on the net that let you do this, (just type in write a soldier, write him a letter telling him how much this country means to you and how much you appreciate his efforts and then place a copy of your letter in the center of the wreath. Not only will you have a fine decoration for the holiday, but you will bring meaning into your life, and into his.

Or if you are not a writer, You can simply decorate a wreath, with flags, and stars, and other things that symbolize our country. In fact make two and give one to a vetran, or a widow of a vetran. It will be a great way to share a craft that holds meaning to us all.
